Amazing how 20 years go by...you may feel 20 years old and yet when you try to do something that a twenty-year-old would do-- your body suddenly tells you that you are nearly 40.
Anyway, since graduating with all of you Redskins (I don't accept nor acknowledge Mustangs-- never will), I embarked on a less than glamorous minor league baseball career for 3 years with the Toronto Blue Jay organization. I met some very cool people along the way, but clearly I was not good enough to get to the big leagues. I attended Michigan State University during the off season and then full-time.
After baseball and while at MSU, God introduced me to my beautiful wife-- now of 15 years. We have been blessed in a lot of ways. Our biggest highlights are our children. They are great kids who are very active. The girls are currently doing competitive gymnastics, basketball and volleyball. My son is involved with baseball, hockey, and football. We are all die-hard MSU fans and love going to campus in the fall to watch an ever-improving football program.
My wife, Kelly is a high school English teacher at Hudsonville High and does a little teaching at Grand Valley State as well. Most importantly, Kelly is a great Mommy.
I have been doing surgical sales for the last 15 years. Our company focuses on gyn, general surgery, and urology. Ironically enough, the company that I work for is based in Milford just a house away from Klancy's Restaurant. I love what I do and feel very thankful to have the opportunity of improving the lives of people thru some really cool technology.
Our family spends a lot of time at our cottage where we try to relax, enjoy water sports and spend time with family and friends.
The coolest thing that I have done since leaving high school (if I eliminate for selfish purposes my wife and having kids) is a mission trip to South Africa. I had the unique opportunity to present the gospel through baseball. We often found ourselves in some very strange places worlds away from home. It was a very eye-opening experience that I will never forget. A great reminder of how awesome things are in the US and not so good in other parts of the world.
Overall, life has been quite a ride. I am really looking forward to getting caught up with you guys.
